i used to buy some crumpets here in doodleland, but they probably weren't proper crumpets, just like i hear from Brit friends here that ya can't get a proper scone either... ...these crumpets were sort of like an English muffin, but a bit bigger, and more chewy on the inside...is that how they are supposed to be?...
nope not suppose to be like them muffins, crumpets have lots of little holes on one side that go almost the whole way through so that when you put butter or marmite or peanut butter or melted cheese on top once toasted the little holes fill up with scrummousness.... dam, now I want crumpets LOL
