...friday night started out as most evenings at the Bright Angel Lounge, the bar full of globetrotters fresh off the bus, dusty hikers doing what i call "the grand canyon shuffle", downing pints and other cocktails to ease the pain, wide-eyed families from Wisconsin and other midwestern locales and an assortment of folks from the four corners of this little cat's eye spinning through the cosmos...a large portion of this assembled humanity clutch and periodically peer at the beeper devices that will call them to their evening repast...
...so, basically, we're playing pre-dinner music, just easing into the night and one of us usually jokes that we'll break out the lasers and fog machines a bit later in the show...but this friday started with a bit of a twist...
...seated directly in front of the stage was an elderly couple, i would guess ages to be somewhere between 80 and 180...it's hard to tell when we humans get that old...anyway...for our first number we selected a Lyle Lovett tune, "She's No Lady (She's My Wife) a very humorous, tongue-in-cheek view of relationships and marriage and such...(perhaps i can implore Pixie to imbed the audio of that song, as i am an idjit about such things)... getting back to the point, these two dear old souls glared at us for the entirety of the song, and when it was finished, they wobbled to their feet, tottered over directly in front of us, and this wee, tiny grandmotherly thing shook a boney finger at me and exclaimed how much that song sucks!...imagine my surprise...after which her knightly paramour added, "We've been married 60 years, and she's a lady and she's my wife!"
...sheeeeesh....go have some oatmeal and take a nap...maybe you'll wake up with a sense of humor...
At your request, my beloved Punkin!!!! (XOXO Pixie)
