canyon tree


...along the hiking trail on the south rim of the Grand Canyon stands the massive skeletal remains of an old pine tree surrounded by it's progeny, sprouting through gnarly ancient roots...tourists clamber up into the low, wide boughs and pose for photographs...some carve their names in this venerable old creature, feeble markings signifying a brief glimmer in the relative spans of time...
